
The beaches of Paestum extend along approximately 12 kilometers of uninterrupted sandy coastline . From south to north, the coast extends from Licinella Torre Paestum to the mouth of the Sele River . It is a wide, regular coastline , easy to walk and enjoy, characterized by wide expanses of fine, golden sand . Behind the beach, at various points, are alternating stretches of Mediterranean pine forest . They offer natural shade and make the stay more pleasant, especially during the hottest hours of the day.
The sea at Paestum is not challenging. The seabed slopes gradually, making swimming pleasant and safe , even for children and those less confident in the water. Licinella Torre Paestum

The stretch of coast known as Licinella Torre Paestum extends from the border of Agropoli to Torre Paestum, an ancient watchtower built to defend the coast from sea raids, south of the archaeological area.
This is the most popular area of ​​the coast, where most of the beach resorts are located. It’s the go-to spot for those seeking immediate services and a more structured organization. There are also stretches of free beach .
At the southern end, bordering Agropoli , the beach is generally less crowded . There are beach clubs, but they’re not intrusive. There’s plenty of open space and a quieter atmosphere than the central areas.
Laura

Immediately after Licinella, continuing north, the beach changes pace. The crowds decrease and the atmosphere becomes more relaxed . Here you’ll find beach clubs, bars, and restaurants, but without the pressure of the more crowded areas.
In recent years, this area has been enhanced thanks to the construction of the new promenade . A simple and pleasant path, ideal for strolling through the pine forest, which extends along several stretches of the coast, offering a natural break between the beach and the urban areas.

Between Licinella and Laura there is also a protected stretch of coastal dunes, Oasi Dunale , managed by Legambiente .
Mouth of the Sele

The final stretch, to the north, is the most natural . The beach widens and the landscape becomes less urbanized.
There are few establishments and the free spaces are increasing. It’s the right choice if you’re looking for a quieter and less organized area .
When to go
The beach season runs from May to September . June and September are the most balanced months, with favorable weather and fewer crowds.
