Campania, like all of Italy, offers a rich artistic and cultural heritage.

7 (Archaeological Park of Pompeii, Royal Palace of Caserta, National Archaeological Museum of Naples, Archaeological Park of Herculaneum, Archaeological Park of Paestum, Royal Palace of Naples, Castel Sant’Elmo and Museum of Capodimonte) of the top 30 Italian museums by number of visitors are in Campania and, of these, 3 (Archaeological Park of Pompeii, Royal Palace of Caserta, National Archaeological Museum of Naples) are even in the top 10. In addition, Campania includes 7 UNESCO World Heritage sites:

• The historic center of Naples;
• The Amalfi Coast;
• The archaeological areas of Pompeii, Herculaneum and Torre Annunziata;
• The Royal Palace of Caserta, the Vanvitelliano Aqueduct and the Complex of San Leucio;
• The National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano, Paestum, Velia and the Certosa di Padula;
• The Church of Santa Sofia in Benevento;
• The Somma-Vesuvius Biosphere and Golden Mile;

To these are added 4 elements of the UNESCO Intangible Heritage of Humanity:

• The machines of the Saints: the lilies of Nola;
• The art of Neapolitan Pizza Makers;
• The Mediterranean Diet;
• Transhumance;

The above represents, however, only the best known tip of a vast and less known iceberg. The entire regional territory is, in fact, dotted with artistic jewels that are worth discovering. Just as an example we remember here the Complex of the Paleochristian Basilicas in Cimitile, the Abbey of Sant’Angelo in Formis in Capua, the Abbey of Goleto in Sant’Angelo dei Lombardi, the Marian Sanctuary of Monte Gelbison, the Campanian Amphitheater in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, the Archaeological Park of Conza della Campania.
